DECEMBER 12th - Back in the woods

@brogestarck: #stonerxmas 12: Halfway through its time for an all time favorite: Pearls & Brass. 70s inspired and amazing musicianship!

Pearls & Brass is an absolutely A-MA-ZING trio from Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Probably one of my all time favorite bands.

They only did 2 albums, and I’ve absolutely no idea where they are today. There’s no website, theres no label, theres no MySpace, Twitter, Facebook page or anything. Only thing I’ve managed to find out is that apparently they stopped playing together a few years back.

What. A. Shame.

The instrumental craftsmanship combined with the unique 70’s inspired songwriting, is really something special. On their self-titled debut album its more bluesy, and on the latter “The Indian Tower” its more psych/stoner-ish, but both of them are really - in a word - breathtaking. And I’m SO annoyed that I’m probably never going to see these guys live. Their guitarist have a solo-project tho… But he will have his own post next sunday.

I obviously couldnt find anything studio-recorded on Youtube, so I tried with an audio-post. But really. Really! Trust me on this, and go and buy:

UPDATED: YAY! I just found at that they are actually playing 1 date in their home town in a few days! There’s hope!

Seriously.  Check these guys out!

Day 15 - A song that describes you:

Tool - The Patient

I really am trying my hardest not to use a Tool song for every day!

Day 14 - A song that no one would expect you to love:

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham - Suraj Hua Madham

This tune has groove, epic passages, progression, and Alka Yagnik’s vocals are absolutely beautiful.

Day 13 - A song that is a guilty pleasure:

Boney M - Nightflight To Venus / Rasputin

Every time I listen to this tune, I create an excellent roller-disco montage in my head.

Larry King tells Sarah Palin an amazing story from his childhood.  Funniest thing I’ve watched in a while!

Day 12 - A song from a band you hate:

Kings of Leon - Radioactive

I think these guys are incredibly overrated.
